Our initial visit will be a comprehensive evaluative consultation of your present concerns, past history and contributing medical, family and social factors.  Once this consultation is complete, we will collaborate on an appropriate treatment plan that may include psychotherapy, medications or other treatment options based on your individual needs:

PSYCHOTHERAPY

In psychotherapy, we work to explore your present concerns in detail.  By discussing what is on your mind, you will learn more about how past experiences may be influencing your current decisions and relationships.  By unpacking these dynamics, my hope is that you have improved relationships, find more meaning in life, and if feeling stuck, be able to move forward.  My approach is warm, empathic, and collaborative.  My training in psychotherapy includes psychodynamic psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) f0r adults and couples.

If we determine that your treatment plan will involve psychotherapy within my practice, subsequent 50-minute psychotherapy appointments will focus upon your individual treatment needs, and may range in frequency from twice weekly to every two weeks. For patients in my psychotherapy practice who have psychiatric diagnoses requiring psychopharmacology, this component of treatment is integrated into the 50-minute psychotherapy appointment.

MEDICATION EVALUATION & MANAGEMENT

Following our initial consultation, medications may be clinically indicated for a variety of psychiatric symptoms, either alone or in conjunction with psychotherapy.  As part of a medication evaluation, I provide you with detailed medication information to allow you to make an informed decision if a medication appears to be indicated.  After initiating a medication, I continue to work with you to closely monitor benefits and any possible side-effects that arise over the course of treatment.

My areas of specialization include:

  • People looking to find meaning and personal satisfaction in their current stage of life
  • Coping with grief and loss
  • Relationships and couples
  • Young adults and college students
  • Mood and anxiety disorders
  • Addictive disorders
