Smoking tobacco is a leading cause of preventable illness including cancer, stroke and heart disease.  Quitting smoking improves health in smokers of all ages.  Most people know the link between smoking and medical illnesses. Yet despite this knowledge many individuals have great difficulty quitting smoking.  Helping you stop smoking is something I believe you have the power to do despite prior unsuccessful attempts.

Evidence shows that drug treatments, including nicotine replacement therapies (gum, patch, lozenge, and inhaler), selected antidepressant therapies (e.g., bupropion), and nicotinic receptor agonist therapy (varenicline), result in better smoking cessation rates than placebo.  Counseling by a health professional also improves smoking cessation rates.

Services I provide to help you quit smoking include:

  • Individual cognitive behavioral therapy for relapse prevention
  • Medications including nicotine replacement therapies, bupropion and varenicline
  • Smoking cessation groups
